Fast, Clear, Secure: Modern Door Technology for Emergency Response

Swift, Safe, and Efficient: Transforming Paulding Fire Station #13 with Cutting-Edge Door Solutions

At the heart of every fire station lies a simple yet critical challenge: speed, safety, and efficiency in every operation. For Paulding County Fire & Rescue, serving a population of 188,000 across 14 stations, this challenge was central to the design of their new 4,900 sq ft Station #13. From the moment the first alarm sounds, every second counts—and the station’s new apparatus bays needed doors that could keep up.

In 2025, Acousti Doors & Specialities LLC partnered with Jewers Doors to deliver a high-performance solution: the Swift fully-glazed folding door system. Designed to open in under six seconds, provide clear visibility, flood the bays with natural light, and maintain uncompromising safety standards, these doors exemplify how thoughtful engineering can enhance daily operations for emergency services.

From front to rear, the installation at Station #13 demonstrates how modern door technology can support rapid response, protect personnel, and improve operational efficiency—proving that even seemingly small design choices can make a big difference when lives are on the line.

Project: Paulding Fire Station #13

Industry: Emergency Services, Fire & Rescue

Product: SWT-E-FG

The Challenge

The new 4,900 sq ft station features two apparatus bays. The main priority: doors that open quickly and safely with clear visibility for the operator and driver, while allowing natural light to flood the bays to improve visibility and reduce daytime lighting costs . Paulding County Fire & Rescue (founded 1980) provides fire protection, suppression, rescue and emergency services to a population of 188,000 across 14 stations . In 2025 , our US distributors, Acousti Doors & Specialities LLC, commissioned Jewers Doors to manufacture four sets of Swift fully-glazed folding doors for Fire Station #13.

The Solution

Front elevation: Two sets of Swift fully-glazed folding doors were installed at the front of the building for openings 12 ft (3660 mm) wide × 14 ft (4267 mm) high. Each door is electrically operated in four leaves, with two leaves folding to each side to maximise clear opening width.

Hydraulic drive units open the door leaves in under 6 seconds for a fast, reliable exit. A high -level photocell triggers automatic closure immediately after the appliance departs to keep the building secure .

Rear elevation: Matching 4-leaf Swift electrically operated doors were installed to allow vehicles to re-enter the appliance bay without reversing through the front entrance.

About the Product

SWT -E-FG doors are constructed using cold-rolled galvanised box-section dovetail frames, which were finished with a marine-grade powder coat. The doors were glazed using 24mm thick low-E, argon-filled double-glazed units to allow good visibility and natural lighting whilst maximising thermal efficiency.
